7 Strategies to Reduce Your Stress

  • Glenn Bott

Aloha my friends!  I’ve been hearing a lot of folks complaining about how their life isn’t working, and it’s stressing them out.  This reminded me of some great advice I learned from one of my early mentors that changed my life for the better.

1.      Set the Tone for Your Day – Start your day by reading or listening to something inspirational.  Get your mind in a positive place/vibration.  Don’t make what you’re going to do today a chore.  Instead, enjoy your day and do the planned activities because they help you align with who you are and your current mission.

2.      Allow Plenty of Time – Set your day up to maximize your strength and focus.  Don’t run from meeting to meeting or chore to chore.   Give yourself time to focus on the task at hand so you can do it to the best of your ability.  When completed, congratulate yourself and move on to the next task.

3.      Be Authentic – it takes a lot of energy to pretend to be something or someone you aren’t.  Relish in your uniqueness and celebrate being you.

4.      Get Away – take a break during the day, even if it’s just to take a short walk.  Break up your routine and recharge.

5.      Say a Kind Word – spread the joy.  Become a harbinger of happiness.  You’ll both feel better.

6.      Focus on Productivity vs. Working Hard – Many focus and brag about their long hours at the job or how much they have to do.  Everyone’s busy but few are productive.  Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

7.      Remind Yourself This is Your Choice – Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you “have to”.  This builds resistance and creates tension in your mind and body.  Change “I have to” to “I get to”.  Enjoy the task at hand and your chosen mission.
